I lovingly handcraft each School Keepsake Bear with care and attention to detail, capturing the heart of your child’s educational journey. Measuring approximately 35cm tall, this adorable bear is the perfect size for little hands to hold and cherish.
More than just a cuddly friend, your bear can also include a special pocket on its tummy—ideal for storing precious keepsakes like class photos, notes, or small mementoes. (Please let me know at the time of ordering if you'd like this added.)

Each bear is made to order and completely unique, with its own character and personality. I recommend sending 1–4 items of your child’s school clothing. If you'd prefer to use adult clothing, 1–2 items are usually enough—but I'm happy to incorporate more if you'd like.
 
Please note that making each bear takes several weeks, but the result is a beautiful keepsake that you’ll treasure for years to come.
 
In addition to being a heartfelt way to honour your memories, these bears are a sustainable option—repurposing meaningful fabrics that might otherwise be tucked away or discarded.
 
Due to the bespoke nature of each bear, I am unable to CE safety test them. As such, they are sold as keepsakes only, and not as toys. They should not be left with children under the age of 14, and I cannot accept any liability for the misuse of your keepsake.
 
Keepsake Bears are not suitable for hand or machine washing. To preserve their appearance and structure, please spot clean only by gently wiping the surface with a damp cloth. Do not tumble dry or submerge in water.
 
Each bear is filled with 100% CE-tested polyester stuffing and handmade with care to be a lasting memento of treasured memories.

Returns & Exchanges Policy

At The Crafty Butterfly, I want you to be completely happy with your handmade Memory Bear. If something isn’t quite right, please contact me as soon as possible so I can help resolve the issue.

Custom Orders:
Please note that custom-made items—such as bears crafted from your own clothing—cannot be returned or exchanged unless there is a defect in the workmanship. Each one is made just for you, with materials you’ve provided, so I’m unable to resell or repurpose them.

Non-Customised Items:
If you’ve purchased a non-customised item, you may return it in its original condition and packaging within 14 days of delivery. Once I receive the returned item, I’ll either send a replacement or issue a full refund (excluding original delivery charges), depending on your preference.

Return Postage:
Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer. I recommend obtaining proof of postage from the post office when sending anything back.

Shipping Fees:
Shipping fees are non-refundable. However, if you're exchanging your bear, I’ll cover the cost of sending the replacement to you.

Refunds:
Refunds will be issued to the original payment method once I’ve received and checked the returned item to ensure it's in its original condition.

Each Memory Bear is handmade to order, and processing can take up to four weeks. Once you place your order, I’ll provide an estimated timeframe and keep you updated throughout the process.

I use a reliable, tracked shipping service for all Memory Bears. This ensures your bear is delivered safely and gives you the ability to track its journey online.

Shipping Fees:
Shipping costs are calculated at checkout and depend on your location, as well as the size and weight of your order.

Delivery Time:
Delivery time will vary based on your location and the shipping method chosen. Once your bear is on its way, I’ll send you a tracking number so you can follow its progress.

Local Collection:
If you're nearby, local collection is also available—just let me know when placing your order.

Here are some answers to common questions about the clothing I can use to create your Memory Bear:

What types of clothing can be used?
I can make your Memory Bear from a wide range of fabric items—shirts, dresses, skirts, blouses, jackets, baby grows, and more. If the fabric holds meaning for you, I’ll do my best to work with it.

How much clothing do I need to send?

Baby clothing: 4–6 baby grows (0–6 months is ideal). If you’re sending tiny baby sizes, you’ll need to include more—roughly 2 tiny items per 1 standard grow. It’s always better to send a bit more than not enough.

Older children’s clothing: 2–3 items.

Adult clothing: 1–2 items. I’m happy to include more if you’d like a mix.

Should I wash the clothing first?
Yes, please. Washing the clothing before sending it helps avoid shrinkage or fabric issues during the making process.

What if some clothing is stained or damaged?
Small stains or signs of wear often add to the charm and can be incorporated into the design. If a piece is too damaged, I’ll use other sections where possible.

Can the Memory Bear be washed?
No—please don’t wash your Memory Bear in a washing machine. It’s a delicate keepsake and should only be spot cleaned gently with a damp cloth. This will help preserve the fabrics and the shape of your bear.

Helpful tips:
If you're sending more items than required, feel free to include a note telling me which pieces are your favourites—I’ll prioritise them in the design. If you’d like all items mixed in, just let me know. Otherwise, I’ll use my discretion and return any unused items with your bear.
